This year it has been really close between the highlights in the Christmas town of Stavanger! Several Christmas markets, its own chocolate factory at the Christmas market in Byparken, the traditional Gingerbread town and ice rink at the Oil Museum.

The Christmas town of Stavanger this year was bigger and more eventful than ever before. And between all the arenas, the streets have been decorated with lights, lanterns and Christmas-decorated evergreen - and beautifully Christmas-decorated shop windows. And on the way, you often came across a tiny carousel (which has hardly stood still since it was installed), a selfie point, a pixie or other entertaining surprises.

The experiences have been in line, and we hope that a trip to Stavanger City Center put you in the Christmas mood! Here are some of the events that have taken place:

The Ice Rink is back!

Kjeringholmen has been transformed into an atmospheric winter landscape, and here there will be a cozy Christmas atmosphere for young and old every day until Christmas. If you do not have your own skates, you can rent for the whole family. You can enjoy a cup of cocoa, a coffee or a pancake while watching the kids go ice skating. The course is open until the end of the winter holidays.

The course is serviced:
Weekdays at 16.00-20.00
Saturday-Sunday at 12.00-18.00

Rental of skates costs:
Kr. 50, - per pair
Kr. 200, - for a cut card with 10 cuts
Use of the track with your own skates is free 


The Gingerbread Town at the Norwegian Oil Museum

Also this year, the sweetest and most fragrant city of all is being built, namely the Gingerbread Town!

Here are beautiful, impressive, cute, weird and tasty houses put together into a fantastic town that is worth seeing every year.

Christmas Market in Byparken

In Byparken we welcome you to the district's most cozy Christmas market. Sheltered by the Cathedral and with the pavilion as the natural concert stage for music corps and choirs, you will find a Christmas market with great handicraft and handicraft products. Here you can find Christmas gifts that are handmade and unique.

Here you also get something to eat and the children are invited into our very own chocolate factory where they can participate in chocolate courses.

No, it is not a new Christmas facade - the one in Vågen should be unique! Here you have another experience waiting.

Can be experienced every full hour until the 23rd of December:

From December 5th many of our stores are open weekdays 10.00-20.00, Saturdays 10.00-18.00 and Sundays 14.00-18.00.

Arkaden and Torgterrassen are open weekdays 10.00-21.00, Saturdays 10.00-19.00 and Sundays 14.00-18.00.

Herbarium is open weekdays 10.00-20.00, Saturdays 10.00-18.00 and Sundays 14.00-18.00.

MagasinBlaa is open on Sunday December 5th 14.00-18.00, from December 13th they are open weekdays 10.00-21.00, Saturdays 10.00-19.00 and Sundays 14.00-18.00.

Christmas Market at Domkirkeplassen

This Christmas we are having a temporary hall at Domkirkeplassen and invite you to a cross between traditional market trade and a modern food market.

Here you will meet the producers who offer salmon, cured meats, juices, jams and many other great products.

Tou Juleby

At Tou Juleby, we want to create a calmer pre-Christmas time for our guests. Here you should be able to lower your shoulders, experience living art expressions, as well as see and buy art, crafts, food and drink products, musical instruments, vinyl etc. Artists from, among others, Tou Atelierhus exhibit and sell their work. In addition, we bring in local producers who make their products with high-quality raw materials.

Sustainability is a prominent value for Tou Juleby. We all scrap artificial products, and replaces it with local, natural and sustainable offerings enrichment for nature, people and society. This affects all choices in the design of the city, and not least the choice of suppliers.

Lighting of the Christmas tree at Domkirkeplassen

In keeping with tradition, the Christmas tree will be lit at Domkirkeplassen on Sunday November 28th, at 16.30. See you there!
Christmas market at Fermenten

We invite the city to a super cool market that focuses on fashion, design, redesign, reuse, antiques and vintage! You will find furniture, interiors, clothes, jewelry and accessories. We'll also have a separate department with art and flowers/plants! You can find unique, short-haul and sustainable Christmas gifts for yourself and others!

There will also be a wonderful Christmas atmosphere and sale of food & drinks! The market takes place in the eastern part of the town in the hall behind Fermenten at Ryfylkegaten 13.

Christmas market at Stavanger Old Town

The traditional Christmas market in the Old Town of Stavanger happens on Sunday November 28th. Studios, workshops, museums and cafés in Old Stavanger have decorated themselves and welcome the public to a cozy pre-Christmas Sunday.

Opening hours are Sunday 28 November at 11.00-16.00.
Lighting of the Christmas lights in Vågen

At 18.00 the Christmas lights are lit on the row of sea houses in Vågen - we are looking forward to it!
Other Christmas happenings

On Saturday 27 November, there will be Christmas music in the streets from 13.00-14.00 and Julefargegata is open at 10.00-24.00.

Santa Claus also has his own mailbox located at Arneageren this year. Here the children can put up a wish list, and maybe someone will have their wishes fulfilled?

Saturday December 4th at 13.00 and Saturday December 18th at 13.00 you can meet Santa Claus at Arkaden.

On Saturday December 11th VSOP sings Christmas songs in Byparken.

In Valbergtårnet there will be storytelling time with Eli-Gunn and Sølve. This will take place on Saturday December 11th at 12.00 and 14.00. Best suited for those aged 4-7 years.
